It was warm when I was in NYC in September, and so I headed for Brooklyn’s botanical gardens to get away from the heat and the noise. It was everything I needed that morning; a shady oasis of beauty and tranquillity.
You are going have to wait though for the garden photographs as this morning I just have a boulder from the ice age to share. It, along with some Hudson Highland boulders, was chillin’ out in the rock garden. This is probably not the image you were expecting!

In case anyone has missed it I am squaring daily and mostly focusing on dark shapes, silhouettes and reflective shadows but you don’t need to do the same. The dictionaries highlight that shadows can also be an illusory image, a remnant of a thing, an imitation, an inseparable companion and of course partial light. The frequency of your squares can be whatever suits you and your blog. The only thing you have to remember is to stay square with your November Shadows.
On that rough rock the shadow looks almost like an ancient pictograph!

interesting, you are not the first to react this way to it – amazing what impact turning a square 90 degrees has!

I’m sorry we never made it to the Brooklyn botanical gardens. It was so hot when we were in New York, we only got part way across the bridge. Spent most of our time in Central Park drinking iced coffee or in a museum with some air con.

next time definitely head and stay across the river – much quieter and plenty of cool places to find

It is almost like a tribal rock painting. A marker for people passing by to beware of the leaf man He might get you

ahh but the Queen can make her own rules up – although I think turning something 90 degrees is probably okay with a square!

awww thanks – must admit I did turn the square on its side when cropping as it looked better this way than the original way!
