Squares returns at the weekend, seconds before 7am on Saturday 1st November, and we’re shadowing boxing for the entire month. The only rule is that your image is square. Otherwise it is totally up to you how you interpret the theme of shadows; as you can see from these watery shadows your square images don’t have to be of silhouettes or even be really dark.

PS for those who don’t get my title reference (and perhaps also for those that do but don’t know the whole rhyme); here is our remember remember November rhyme

Remember, remember, the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, ’twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys
God save the King!

And here’s the story behind the rhyme.

    1. ooh do you know I have completely failed to include any fireworks, and they’d make such great shadow squares. Hmmm . . .will see if I get any good pics at weekend!

    1. Intermittent shadows will be lovely – and glad to introduce the rhyme to you. I must check with my eldest grandchild and see if she knows it yet

    1. Poor bloke, infamous for one thing. Apparently his home village refused to observe the day, which was a brave decision as for years it was a legal requirement to observe it.
