Weeks ago I shared some poppies as a preparatory square, and then eleven days ago I shared a poppy in our first gallery. Today I share my official poppy square. It brings back fond memories of walks with Robert in Portugal.

You have until 31st July to square. The theme is ‘‘Simply Red‘ and as always the only rule for Squares is that your main photograph must be square.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. You can never have too many poppies. Have a care though. There’s poison in my post today. And fairies: https://margaret21.com/2025/07/28/a-residence-for-fairies/

Little jewels floating in amongst the grasses. For the longest time I didn’t think they were coming this year, and then they were everywhere! Special memories, hon xx

I wonder how many people have posted poppies. My grandfather used to have poppies in his garden every year. I grew to enjoy them

I’ve been wondering the same, I should really have been counting them!

Please don’t go back searching. There have been too many simply red posts. Isn’t it wonderful

How interesting as I almost went with a poppy photo as I was having trouble pulling the iconic red chair photos up.
I too love poppies but don’t have a lot of luck growing them.

it is amazing how fussy they can be in some places poppies – I have had problems in past too. They seem to prefer wasted ground.
