At the time it wasn’t the colour of low loader that I was focusing but whether a) it was going to get past me and then b) what is on it! I had to take a photograph for Robert to send to him. Glastonbury’s railway station closed in 1966 so seeing an engine here is very unusual.

The theme for July squares is ‘‘Simply Red‘ and the one rule is that your main photograph must be square. If colour is not your thing, then don’t worry why not play around with some red idioms such as;
- A red rag to a bull – means provocation but for squares perhaps you could photograph a warning sign, or a moment of danger
- As red as a beetroot – means embarrassed but for the content of your squares I am also thinking hot or excited
- Paint the town red– means having a very good time but for squares I am thinking flamboyance!
- Red herring – something that is deliberately misleading, so for squares I was thinking perhaps an illusion
- Red letter day– is a memorable day or experience, so I know everyone will have at least one photograph that captures this. Today’s announcement square was definitely a red letter experience.
- Roll out the red carpet – or why not give your blog the red carpet treatment in July by sharing your favourite images and perhaps a little bit of glamour
Squares is a daily challenge but don’t worry if you haven’t posted yet this month. Even locomotives have to train really hard for the square Olympics! Just don’t forget when you do square to keep your photo square, and to pingback with #SimplyRed!

You’ll sure see this pretty red truck coming down the road!

Oh, impressive. And I’m sharing a big garage today. Sadly, I don’t think it’s big enough – 😒 :https://margaret21.com/2025/07/23/a-gargantuan-garage/

Yes definitely rather than them than me, although I was feeling daunted by own driving just sitting there waiting for it to pass!

Love the reflections on the bonnet, and who would have thought this was a subject for squares, all that time ago? xx

I know! Amazing how things come round (or should I say square?!)

I think truck drivers in England are amazing! All those crazy
narrow windy roads hauling what we call “a big rig”.
Mine is all about rural roads and pedal power today.

Sometimes these wide loads get a bit too close for comfort, but it’s always interesting to see what’s on board.

I was beginning to feel very nervous as he got closer as I had nowhere to go!
