If I recall correctly this is part of Josh Kline’s Climate Change installation, and this room explored the impact of climate events on communities. The couple in the video had been immersed by floodwaters, and if you look carefully you can see the screen is in an inflatable boat. This was a full immersive experience walking round; art wise didn’t do much for me but it was an interesting exhibition and certainly made a statement as well as being my reddest square yet!

We need to be on RED alert

Whilst I have your attention can I mention a bugbear and that’s the pop up subscription boxes! I think I might be seeing red over them because they have been everywhere as I have been preparing our first #SimplyRed gallery as well as playing catch up over the weekend. It has felt like every other blog has it at the moment! So if you haven’t already checked your WP blog do take this moment to go to ‘Newsletter Settings’. You will find it listed in the main Settings menu on the Dashboard. Then could you unclick the one that says ‘enable subscription pop-up for commenters’. Everyone will still be able to subscribe especially if you click instead ‘add a floating subscribe button’ but at least they won’t get a pop up after every comment. I might today leave a #PopUp tag as a PS on every post where I come across it over the next day or two so at least you’ll know!

  1. That is very red indeed! I’m pretty sure I’ve disabled that pop-up as it irritates me too when I come across it. But I suspect it could reappear if settings are reset to a default position after an update so do let me know if ever you see it on my site!

  2. Well, you couldn’t be redder, Becky. Not sure about the art work though. Flooding is also much to do with inappropriate land use/development, and/or failure to manage water courses as they were managed in the past. We saw that in Kenya with too much forest clearance, and in Wenlock where our big Victorian culvert had been strangely reduced, supposedly to strengthen the highway.

I’m on the beach today: https://tishfarrell.com/2025/07/16/once-on-mombasa-beach/

    1. I am with you on the art work. I struggle with most immersive installations for exactly this reason. And we could do well to learn from the monks and others on how to manage water courses!

    1. ah it’s not an advert so our payments don’t stop it unfortunately. It is meant to be an added feature?!!

You do have it on yours but very easy to switch off when you have a moment
