If I recall correctly this is part of Josh Kline’s Climate Change installation, and this room explored the impact of climate events on communities. The couple in the video had been immersed by floodwaters, and if you look carefully you can see the screen is in an inflatable boat. This was a full immersive experience walking round; art wise didn’t do much for me but it was an interesting exhibition and certainly made a statement as well as being my reddest square yet!

Whilst I have your attention can I mention a bugbear and that’s the pop up subscription boxes! I think I might be seeing red over them because they have been everywhere as I have been preparing our first #SimplyRed gallery as well as playing catch up over the weekend. It has felt like every other blog has it at the moment! So if you haven’t already checked your WP blog do take this moment to go to ‘Newsletter Settings’. You will find it listed in the main Settings menu on the Dashboard. Then could you unclick the one that says ‘enable subscription pop-up for commenters’. Everyone will still be able to subscribe especially if you click instead ‘add a floating subscribe button’ but at least they won’t get a pop up after every comment. I might today leave a #PopUp tag as a PS on every post where I come across it over the next day or two so at least you’ll know!
That is very red indeed! I’m pretty sure I’ve disabled that pop-up as it irritates me too when I come across it. But I suspect it could reappear if settings are reset to a default position after an update so do let me know if ever you see it on my site!

I can’t find anything like you mentioned for Newsletter Settings, so hopefully my site’s good.

if you haven’t had a popup tag from me then yes all is good 🙂

It does seem a bit strong on the red, but maybe the artist’s point is that the topic is a red alert. Here’s mine today: https://grahamsisland.com/2025/07/16/crown-of-thorns-star-2/

Lots o’ red here, Becky! Immersed too long in this I might be seeing red! I’ll check my WP settings, too 😉 Here is mine, more feathered friends:

hee hee – think we will all have red tinted eyes by the end of the month!

Well, you couldn’t be redder, Becky. Not sure about the art work though. Flooding is also much to do with inappropriate land use/development, and/or failure to manage water courses as they were managed in the past. We saw that in Kenya with too much forest clearance, and in Wenlock where our big Victorian culvert had been strangely reduced, supposedly to strengthen the highway.

I am with you on the art work. I struggle with most immersive installations for exactly this reason. And we could do well to learn from the monks and others on how to manage water courses!

Oh yes, those complex systems for flooding water meadows to encourage early pasture.

Becky, I hope I’m not one of those with the floating subscribe button! I will double check. Today’s post — what an interesting installation! Feels very timely.

I agree about the pop-ups. I might not be seeing red but feeling almost a kind of rage: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2025/07/16/rage/

clever connection to your square today. Don’t want you raging too much!!

Thanks for the tip, I will check it out later. I pay for my site so I am not supposed to have advertisements. Grrrr….I hope my commenters haven’t been bombarded without my knowledge. Love your red by the way. Here’s mine…

ah it’s not an advert so our payments don’t stop it unfortunately. It is meant to be an added feature?!!
You do have it on yours but very easy to switch off when you have a moment

I thank you, and I Think I switched it off.

It is certainly seeing red Becky. Some art installations can be a bit OTT

sooooo red isn’t it – and yes I think this one was as there were so many rooms. Maybe if each room had been off a courtyard or cafe I would have coped better

That is too much immersion. It would have needed a break out room

exactly – I think there were 6 rooms in total. Not all red, but all intensive.

All red would have been too much
