Ian Davenport – Poured Lines

Ooh look at that my title is Six, which means I can double dip again and join in with Six Word Saturday and July Squares! Follow the link to find out about 6WS and keep reading for Squares.

The theme and tag for July squares is ‘‘Simply Red‘ and the one rule is that your main photograph must be square. Squares is a daily challenge, so your photographs can be from the archives or brand new. If daily is too difficult, then feel free to post every other day, weekly or even just once this month. If colour is not your thing, then don’t worry why not play around with some red idioms such as;

  • A red rag to a bull – means provocation but for squares perhaps you could photograph a warning sign, or a moment of danger
  • As red as a beetroot – means embarrassed but for the content of your squares I am also thinking hot or excited
  • Paint the town red– means having a very good time but for squares I am thinking flamboyance!
  • Red herring – something that is deliberately misleading, so for squares I was thinking perhaps an illusion
  • Red letter day– is a memorable day or experience, so I know everyone will have at least one photograph that captures this. Today’s announcement square was definitely a red letter experience.
  • Roll out the red carpet – or why not give your blog the red carpet treatment in July by sharing your favourite images and perhaps a little bit of glamour

I am hoping to prepare my first gallery over the next few days, so if you think I might have missed any of your squares in the first 11 days first check your spam folder for comments. I could have easily have ended up in there after my marathon catch up. However if I am not in there, drop me a line as I want to make sure I consider everything for the first red gallery.

  1. Interesting. It looks red, but on a closer look there is orange, purple, green, blue, magenta. It didn’t affect my eyes, but once in the Tate St Ives I had to walk out of a room with pop art by Bridget Riley. She likes lines too. But the wavy ones get me. A bit like the paving in Portugal.

  2. At least it’s not round!

    I’ve been fine tuning my scheduling. As I’m out of the country / away from the computer / on holiday / having fun at the end of the month my posts will be scheduled and posted without link then. I hope it’ll work. It did this time (and I’ve added the link later):

      1. I’ve just had a promise that someone is bringing chocolate cake to t’ai chi this morning. ‘He’ has elected to play with palettes on the roof because it’s cloudy this morning, and enjoy the sunshine later. His choice! xx
