Last year in Kent, in the seventh month (according to the Roman calendar) I stumbled across some history on a cliff top which I have been wanting to share with you ever since.

And finally this month as I seek my #SevenForSeptember I have a great reason to share it. There’s even a seven in the name of his squadron.
You may recall that last September it caused me huge distress to even pick up my camera let alone use it, but fortunately now I am now able to use a camera again. Although this month I do not have my usual camera with me in the USA. That one is playing up so I am exploring the US with Robert’s camera. A challenge to start using a different camera but another way to keep him with me. I am missing him so much on this trip; especially the daily planning and reflection, his smile and his reassuring presence on the challenging days. Making new memories without him is hard, but I am enjoying my travels and for the next four days I am meeting up with first friends and then family so will have plenty of opportunities to talk about both him and my trip. I am also thanks to my aphantasia travelling with a couple of framed pictures of him, and this will make you smile – they are square frames!
How lovely to have Robert’s camera to make new memories with. And to be with friends and family who knew Robert and can talk about him. I think talking about those we have lost is so important. I use Alex’s phone now and it feels like I’m holding a part of him.

We never know where or when we will find strength.

yeah there were days in the first year when I wasn’t sure I would but we have no choice so we do. These days it is gentler.

Good 7! I have come across those rusted 2D statues to local heroes in various places – always in groups of 3, which I suspect is the case here too as I spy the edge of another one. Glad the trip is going well and you are cleverly finding workarounds such as the square photos!

Yep, we have one of these groups dedicated to a local Good Egg and friend who has done much to preserve and raise awareness of green spaces and wildlife in North Harrogate.

We have James Watt, Tom Weir and Jimmy Reid. I managed to square one of my images of the group, but it didn’t make the cut for my Seven Sculptures post – I could have done that topic a few times I think.

ooh you had a squares cutting room floor!

I did! Excess topics and excess squares within topics. It’s great for using up random images.

I didn’t realise these figures could almost be bought by the yard.

neither did I! Looked again at the board that this one is beside, and it was funded by National Lottery so I am wondering if it was one of their projects.

Ours was too.

I’m glad you’ve found a work-round for your unusual condition. Always knew you were pretty unique! And here’s my surprise post. Although I’ve tried to keep up with most fellow-squarers, I haven’t seen everything. Perhaps someone has used this already? Once seen, it has to be used! https://margaret21.com/2024/09/24/a-bonus-and-unexpected-seven/

I had forgotten about the vision issue, Becky. Obviously a good thing to have a couple of photos with you (and you can always look at your blog). That’s a lovely memorial and a very lifelike sculpture, Becky. I can’t imagine how many hugs you’re going to be getting in the next few days!

At the moment, I am working through a loss like yours. Memories are important, but making and sharing new ones is equally as important

Teresa posted the same window yesterday. We missed each other for a few days, but wouldn’t have known each other. https://geriatrixfotogallerie.wordpress.com/2024/09/24/seven-cats/

We went to Reculver and explored all around the area. It was so interesting. It’s great to hear you are slowly healing and moving forward. Your new memories will only add to the old ones, never replace them.

So important to never forget the past efforts of many brave men and women. Lovely to hear about your trip and I hope you make many more good memories to accompany all ones you and Robert shared.
