Such a simple sentence but at times in life you might just find it a life saver. I certainly did two years ago when life turned upside down, and still there have been days when to move forward feels nigh on impossible. Slowly though you learn to take one step at a time, and occasionally it can feel great.
Other weeks, like this week, it might feel more like a lean forward than a move forward, but that’s okay too.
We were in Brussels for Robert’s 65th Birthday, and hadn’t planned our visit at all. Not like us to arrive in a new city with no idea of what we were going to do or see. However on this occasion we had done so much before from going to the paralympics to a Birthday meal with family in London to organising our Eurostar travel, we had kind of forgotten Brussels was our final destination. I still remember our joy when we stepped around a street corner and found ourselves stumbling upon this procession.
Wonderful parade. You got me on that chubby feet … love it!

I love those parade balloons. I’ve never seen one except on television — at least not floating though I’ve see a lot of stationary balloons on lawns, especially around Halloween and Christmas. I have ballons, but they both say “Get Well” and somehow, I didn’t think that was quite the right “tone.”

No I can understand that, but lovely that friends and family are sending them to you.

Our Memorial Day (used to be Veteran’s Day) was put at the end of May because that is when, in this part of the world, flower gardens are at their peak. It’s hard to take pictures of anything else because the flowers seem to be calling to you, showing their best side, and posing. Aside from a bird or two, it’s all flowers right now. I do love the magic as flowers bud and unfold.

Street processions are always fun, but are even better when you stumble on them – as if the universe offered a gift. I smiled at the head down, carry on Bob the Builder shot.

I like chance discoveries like that. Seems like they’re fewer and farther between in these days of social media, but perhaps more fun for that. Here’s mine today: https://grahamsisland.com/2024/05/10/give-the-kid-a-good-licking/

I know we have somehow taken away the surprises, and certainly made lovely spots more crowded with social media

There’s a couple of places here I rarely visit anymore because they’ve become a thing on social media and a consequent zoo.

We found the same in Portugal – and is one of the reasons I stopped providing any details on exact locations on my walks in Portugal.
