What a year 2020 has been. There have been a few ups, but it has also been a year full of challenges and downs. We are all amazing for getting this far. Next year will gradually see things getting better, but I suspect the first few months of 2021 are going to be a challenge, especially here on ‘plague island‘. However things are already looking up with the next squares only days away!
The theme for January Squares is the word ‘up‘ and I thought today I would get us in the mood for SquareUp by sharing a few words containing the word up. So here goes;

Cupreous
containing or resembling copper : coppery
Amazing what googling ‘words containing up’ can do! Now for a few more. Remember you don’t need to use any of these, you could simply be brilliant with every square looking up or share something going up. If though you are feeling a little bit more adventurous why not find one of the more unusual ones in the cloud below.

I will of course be posting daily as of January 1st, and it would be so uplifting if you can too. However don’t worry if daily posts are not for you, with this challenge you can post whenever suits you. The only absolute rule is that your main photograph must be SQUARE, and remember a square has 4 equal sides.
I love receiving comments as well as a pingbacks on my square posts, and it would be fantastic if you were able to find a few minutes to visit at least one other squarer. Together, with the tag SquareUp, we can be upbeat about 2021. See you on the 1st!
Yes, well…I had plans a week ago to get ahead but that hasn’t happened. I’ll be doing my best to post one a day but may not make it.

I’d never have thought of it either! On your post announcing the theme, someone left a link to a huge list of words containing ‘up’. It was inspiring!

A great word and a great photo, Becky.
I’m not even vaguely prepared, but I’m looking forward to the challenge – what a great theme for a month that could well be more depressing the most Januarys.

Thanks Debbie 🥰 it is the first time I’ve been so unprepared too, although have done a little bit. Still it makes it all a bit more of an adventure! Here’s to a better year for us all. See you at 3pm on Saturday 😍

PS. I don’t consider the island a the plague island. Your testing is just that much better. We all have it already.

As if you read my mind… 🙂 I was wondering about how to use the “up” and if it was OK if it is a part of a word. You just answered that question 🙂
I still have not started but there are oceans of time left or… 😉

Love your cloud! How clever of you. And Cupreous is such a great word too. I’m afraid I haven’t been paying much attention to the Up squares. All I seem to find are trees! And my mojo is certainly lacking. I will try and find a few though, it would be rude not to.

Cupreous is a great word, but you’re making life too easy for us. I think you will be inundated with puppies 🙂 🙂 I can’t see things improving any time soon, sadly, hon. Friends in the UK report the shopping centres heaving with Boxing Day shoppers. What is wrong with these people and why don’t they get it?

Well, I have to venture up to town today, but I’ll be avoiding the crowds – not that we do crowds here. I’ll be looking upstream and up my street for upbeat ideas to see me onwards and upwards over the next month.

Upstream sounds perfect to me, much better than down town!

Our streams are very up at the moment. As in overflowing.

Yikes – tad early to be doing that

It’s been that way for a good few weeks now. We ourselves aren’t vulnerable, but there has been flooding fairly locally.

Happy to see puppies – we need some cheer 🙂
and I know it is just plain bonkers the way some people are behaving. The vast majority continue to be cautious and safe, but a significant proportion are unfortunately prolonging the agony. Although in their defence the mixed messaging from the government is really not helping 😦

The only way out is a proper full on lockdown, good test, track and trace and the vaccine *(and we still don’t know how long the vaccine will protect us for). We could have done this if they (the govt) had kept lockdown during the summer instead of letting everyone go on their entitled summer holidays. (Yes, thanks Boris, all you did was keep anyone over 60 at home). As for the tiers, that is just a joke. If only we had a government that was good at decision making!
