An extra special square this morning as on this day, sixty one years ago, this fabulous couple were feeling on top of the world.

Sending lots of love and hugs to Mum today. Wasn’t Dad a handsome fellow on your wedding day! Here’s the British Pathé film again of him at the exhibition three years before this very happy day.

  1. Gosh, don’t you look like your mum! Lovely looking couple and your dad has such a wonderful quiff! I was a bridesmaid around that time – in a long nylon yellow confection! I’m wearing a similar crown as your mum, mine is crooked though and I look terrified. How wonderful to have a film of him as a young man and what a story about how he and your mum met.

She will be missing him today. It’s hard enough on your own, but this self-isolation will make it harder. I hope she is enjoying her garden.

    1. Hee hee, I know I know. Just wait until I show you a pic of her at 7 and me at 7, we could be identical twins!

She is missing him, but rather wonderfully some bulbs arrived in post yesterday for her so she is having a lovely time outside planting them 🙂

    1. Thanks Debbie . . .and I know so glamorous. Just looking again at my dad’s suit, he must have spent a small fortune on it! My Mum’s dress was made by her mother in law 🙂

    1. He unfortunately never knew about the film, we only discovered it when his Alzheimer’s was quite advanced . . it is though as you say a fabulous thing for all of us to have, especially as it was at this event he and Mum met. Only a few seconds of him though!

    1. Thank you so much Trish . . .and yes it was an extraordinary find. I found it a couple of years or so ago. Dad unfortunately never saw it as his dementia was quite advanced at that stage, but Mum and all Dad’s cousins were so happy to see it. Specially Mum as she met Dad at this event. He was guarding the silver and she was selling programmes on behalf of NAAFI
