I regularly walk past St Bartholomew and it is in our HODs festival programme again this year, but I rarely see this side. The usual view is of the front. If you fancy having a peek at the front here’s an earlier post, and if you want to see inside why not visit in September when the HODs festival is on!
St Bartholomew was the lay people’s church of Hyde Abbey, and for years it was believed that it was here the remains of Alfred the Great were moved following the dissolution of Hyde Abbey. However no trace of them have been found; it is more likely they remain strewn somewhere in Hyde or possibly in a box in the museum!
I cannot believe we are almost at the end of #RoofSquares. Where has the time gone? I am planning another collation of all of your marvellous squares, but it won’t be for a week at least. Over the next few days I am even busier than I have been to date. My eldest step-daughter is getting married tomorrow, and their celebrations continue into the weekend. Can’t wait, however it does mean a day or two (or maybe more) of radio silence! Apologies for the timing, but I promise I will catch up properly in July.
Sounds like you are having a really busy time of things. I hope the extended wedding celebrations go well. 🙂

Thank you so much. It’s days! Tomorrow is the legal ceremony with around 25 of us, then Saturday is the main event and around 80! Saturday I also need dancing shoes for a silent disco and a cèilidh, so really hoping it cools down by then!!

Lots of lovely roofs here again Becky, what is that chimney looking thing on the left also with roofs?

It’s part of the church. I think it must be in the vestry – a fire for the rector. But do you know I’m not entirely sure, was kind of hoping no-one would spot it!!! Going to have to go back & check. I’ll see if it is open Wednesday when I’m next walking past.

Surely it can’t be a chimney? It has vents, but it also has roofs! Yes, you will have to investigate further, can’t leave me like this!

Hee hee! I thought that was a cowl on the top but I’ll investigate 😁

Poor Alfred. I wouldn’t like the thought of being strewn! I hope the wedding is wonderful and you all have a fabulous day.

Thank you so much. Certainly got the weather for it.
I know do feel sorry for him. They think his pelvic bone using a box but it could also be his son’s. He was at least strewn with other family members!

I suppose that’s a comforting thought.

Not quite decided what September’s will be yet but I’ll give plenty of notice this time 😊
