Like many other participants in this week’s photo challenge roads were the first things I thought of when I saw Ben’s post yesterday. He’s spot on with how the narrowness keeps us in suspense as we ponder what is around the next corner, what is over the hedge and on how on earth we are going to get through that gap. Narrow roads can be magical, especially when the skies are blue and you are in Portugal.

What Ben didn’t mention though is the other magic of narrowness. You know when you breathe in to make yourself smaller! How many times have I done that as I have squeezed the car down a narrow road – as if somehow how breathing in will make the passage easier. Yet it does!

For more Portuguese moments do visit my other blog and if you prefer to stay on the straight and narrow scroll back up and go and say hi to Ben.
