Gnomes, in England at least, generally wear red (phrygian) caps. As Brian or Graham would probably say it is a little gnome fact!
Some claim the red cap is because of their connection to nature and earth, whilst others believe it is a symbol of their pride and rebellious nature following the vegetable patch riots of 465 AD. All I know it makes them easy to spot in a Californian forest.

The theme for July squares is ‘‘Simply Red‘ and whether you gnome square daily for the rest of the month, weekly or just the once, your main photograph must be square.

They do indeed seem to be starting the weekend 😀. In Germany, they seem to have more color choices for their harts than red 😀.
