Cee was an incredible support with my Squares Challenge, and in fact it was her approach to challenges which inspired me to reply to every Squares comment and to visit every pingback. So on day two of Simply Red I thought I’d post a square from her favourite peony fields.

I visited the fields with Chris in May. The scent of the peonies, and the beauty of the fields was incredible. It was wonderful photographing flowers in fields that Cee knew well, and I know she’d be delighted I am including flowers in this month’s ‘Simply Red’ Squares Challenge. I know many of you will be posting flowers this month too; I can see her smiling with joy. It’s also a chance to send hugs and thoughts to Chris.

The one rule as always is that your main photograph must be square but that doesn’t stop you from including the odd rectangle too!
Squares is a daily challenge, so your photographs can be from the archives or brand new. If daily is too difficult, feel free to post every other day, weekly or even just once. Pingback with #SimplyRed.
You know Cee. She would have been full of praise for your flower. I’m so glad you spent time with Chris. I know she really appreciated it.

My post was prepared before I read yours, so no flowers from me today. But clean underwear at least! https://margaret21.com/2025/07/02/unimpeachable-underwear/

I can credit Cee for keeping me interested in blogging for . . . let’s see, almost 20 years? And I miss her a lot. I really look forward to your squares challenge, thank you for the hard work you put into it!

That’s a wonderful tribute to Cee (and Chris). I had prepared my post not knowing that you would go for flowers but I’m happy to join in remembering Cee with flowers: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2025/07/02/and-now-the-theme-unfolds/

I love peonies and this one is a beauty. We don’t have the right climate for growing them here so seeing gorgeous ones in photos is a bonus.

I’m hoping to grow some in my garden once I get around to re-doing garden. Still caught up with house at present

I have been thinking about Chris lately and wondering how she is doing. I’m glad you were able to meet again. A lovely post which Cee would certainly have appreciated.

life without Cee is all becoming a bit real I think for her. Time passing is more difficult than so many of us realise until we are living with grief

I’m sure that must be so. Your support must mean a lot to Chris.

I hope so, although last week I couldn’t be there for her much. Both of us having one of those weeks.
