I spotted this when I was lucky enough to be spending the day with Margaret and Anabel, and thought ‘this will be perfect for a gallery of square pilgrims’!

At the time I wasn’t able to tell them much about the building, although if I recall we did surmise it had once been a hospital. Thomas Bellott (note name under the eye brow feature) first founded a hospital for ‘lame pilgrims’ in this part of Bath in the 17th century, however whilst the coat of arms is original the building we can now see dates from the 19th century.

On Beau Street, Bath

Like the pilgrims arriving in Bath you may need a bit of sustenance before you commence your gallery explorations. So if you haven’t already make yourself a drink and perhaps find a biscuit or two. I have some magical squares to share with you. I thought I’d begin with those who started squaring geometrically after the last gallery. None are new to squares but some of them we haven’t seen squaring for a year or more.

Wasn’t that a marvellous first room. I do hope you had fun visiting a few, if not all, of them. Our next five rooms are also full of delights; I wonder if anyone will work out how I have curated them.

A few of you I know are incredible and visit every squarer in the gallery. It means so much that you do this. However I know not everyone can, so all I ask is that you try to visit at least one squarer in every room.

Did any of those squares bring back memories of trips you have made, or maybe arithmetic challenges at school? If not perhaps you will recollect travels and step back into history in our fourth room.

Wasn’t that a great room. Our next room is our penultimate room, so this is a perfect time to take a quick break and pour yourselves another cup of something. I think I am on my third cup writing this! Not because of you but because of the WP gremlins. They have been a nuisance this month.

So finally we come to the last room of our second geometric gallery, and as you might expect by now there are more splendid squarers to be found here. So have fun looking round.

  1. Wow, Becky B. you are brilliant. The tangled web you wove to include every square in the book is amazingly beautiful. Thanks for this easy to follow reference. Just hooking links takes so much time. Three cups of anything is a long time especially when you have to stop every so often and empty the pot. 🙂 Have a great February break. Lots of love, Marsha xxx

      1. I struggle just listing names by the time I visit each site and comment on it. Whew! You have so many. Of course it takes a month and you are visiting sites all along the way, but it does take a great deal of time. So, thank you for your gift of time. 🙂 xxx

I know the month started slowly, and then fell into an okay pace and then suddenly we’re into the last few days. Time is weird!

  4. Fantastic, Becky! You’ve obviously been using the wild and woolly weather to get the job done. I’ve visited some but will come back later for those I missed. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
