I spotted this when I was lucky enough to be spending the day with Margaret and Anabel, and thought ‘this will be perfect for a gallery of square pilgrims’!
At the time I wasn’t able to tell them much about the building, although if I recall we did surmise it had once been a hospital. Thomas Bellott (note name under the eye brow feature) first founded a hospital for ‘lame pilgrims’ in this part of Bath in the 17th century, however whilst the coat of arms is original the building we can now see dates from the 19th century.

Like the pilgrims arriving in Bath you may need a bit of sustenance before you commence your gallery explorations. So if you haven’t already make yourself a drink and perhaps find a biscuit or two. I have some magical squares to share with you. I thought I’d begin with those who started squaring geometrically after the last gallery. None are new to squares but some of them we haven’t seen squaring for a year or more.
- We cannot always peep through the windows but there are often fun reflections as we prepare for our train journey
- This one is a bit of a cheat to say hasn’t squared recently but this beach definitely hasn’t been visited by us for a while
- There are cities to explore and other galleries to visit, and I can’t wait to find this island in person
- I have loved how so many of you have delved into your shapeful archives and chatted to us over a cuppa as we discover every day geometrics
Wasn’t that a marvellous first room. I do hope you had fun visiting a few, if not all, of them. Our next five rooms are also full of delights; I wonder if anyone will work out how I have curated them.
- First some great music to accompany us as we discover the world in one place, and relish the presence of the Queen of photo challenges
- Next in this small world of geometry we stand in awe of a corridor and watch the geometry of aves in the sky
- Some of you have surpassed yourselves this month with themes within the theme, and even those who have scratched their heads have kept sailing
A few of you I know are incredible and visit every squarer in the gallery. It means so much that you do this. However I know not everyone can, so all I ask is that you try to visit at least one squarer in every room.
- Even though it is a mathematical challenge we are not counting this month we are simply enjoying the colourful and the sieving
- Although sometimes I cannot resist counting especially when art and chocolate is on offer and the artist stops by for conversation
- The love shared this month has been beautiful; and I have also loved exploring lesser-known modern corners alongside our ancient past
Did any of those squares bring back memories of trips you have made, or maybe arithmetic challenges at school? If not perhaps you will recollect travels and step back into history in our fourth room.
- First though let’s challenge narratives, remind ourselves of regulations and have fun with language
- Then after creating some chaos amongst ornate decorations we’ll probably need to recover on some educating cushions
- And perhaps also go for healing walks and adorable fun under blue skies
Wasn’t that a great room. Our next room is our penultimate room, so this is a perfect time to take a quick break and pour yourselves another cup of something. I think I am on my third cup writing this! Not because of you but because of the WP gremlins. They have been a nuisance this month.
- No wonder some of us have turned pale and almost collapsed, as the geometric cogs have been turning
- Fortunately we have found plenty of cheer and even seventeen syllables as we have continued our fabulous geometric construction
- And been reminded there is lovely geometry in the chill of the winter and in the brilliance of childhood
So finally we come to the last room of our second geometric gallery, and as you might expect by now there are more splendid squarers to be found here. So have fun looking round.
- There are small towns to discover, as well as wonderful new artists and even brand new lands
- You might need to suck it up geometrically or even evolutionary, but I promise you there is perfection in this final room
- As well as nature’s glorious green and polka dotted madness. No wonder this month we are all playing in the wind.
Wow, Becky B. you are brilliant. The tangled web you wove to include every square in the book is amazingly beautiful. Thanks for this easy to follow reference. Just hooking links takes so much time. Three cups of anything is a long time especially when you have to stop every so often and empty the pot. 🙂 Have a great February break. Lots of love, Marsha xxx

I struggle just listing names by the time I visit each site and comment on it. Whew! You have so many. Of course it takes a month and you are visiting sites all along the way, but it does take a great deal of time. So, thank you for your gift of time. 🙂 xxx

I don’t how you have the energy to write such clever wrap ups, which capture each square link, Becky! We all appreciate it. I can’t believe we’re getting to the end of squares already.
