On day nine of GeometricJanuary, I thought I’d take a break from architecture, sculpture and engineering and take a closer look at nature. It is just as impressive, and when you look closely you start noticing the angles of the lines and the shapes. I couldn’t though decide which square crop I preferred. What do you think?

  1. I think both shots work for different reasons but if I had to choose just one I’d go for the right-hand image – I like the negative space and the lack of distraction from the blurred part.

  3. I’m liking the left photo better. And yes, never touch a prickly pear. They are an invasive species here but are very difficult to eradicate. Interestly, you can cook and eat the fruit if you know how to do it properly and when we were in Santiago before our Antarctic trip the hotel we stayed at had prickly pear as one of the fruits on the breakfast buffet. I couldn’t bring myself to try it.

        1. next time . . . . . . and yes I tend to forget about the option too (although obviously not in this post). I must explore if there are any new image options. Tend to use the same ones again and again

    1. wise woman. One year Robert and I were both so intrigued that Robert decided to test out the spikeyness with a very light touch. Not only was it sharp but these spikes are actually really really tiny and he ended up with a few stuck in his finger!!
