A bridge in construction highlights just how much geometry is going on behind the scenes, and I managed to photograph it from two very different angles a few days apart. Amazing at the progress they were making, not that I noticed it at the time!

January 2025 is a Squares Month, and the theme is geometry. So you can photograph almost anything this month as long as your main image is square in shape. It is also good to remember that;
- it is a daily challenge but you can also post weekly, just once in the month or whatever frequency suits you and your blog
- it is totally up to you whether you pingback via your post or add your link with a comment on one of my daily square posts. Both approaches work.
- it helps me enormously when creating the galleries if you use the tag. This month it is GeometricJanuary
Truly impressive. I hope speed doesn’t compromise safety!
Here are my squares (yes, plural, 2 of them) for today: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2025/01/07/snowy-fences-i/
I was so taken by Jude’s (from Travel World) frames that I’m adding frames to my squares from now on.

excellent point – and yay on the frames. I really need to invest in software to do the same

Bridges – lots of math in the built. Not to mention geometrical calculations

I can’t even begin to imagine how many calculations must be involved

A bit different from the days when the Romans put one stone on top of another and got them to meet in the middle!

so different to that first geometrical wonder

So much geometry in one image.
I’ll have my cranes coming along soon 😁

oooh your url suggests you are in a town where I once lived. Can’t wait to visit

Did you once live here in Australia?

hee hee, no I was thinking of the English Cowes – didn’t realise there was more than one!

Oh yes, lots of places here in Australia have the same names as that in the UK.

That is good progress. They must be behind in their delays and cost overruns!

well it was meant to be fully completed in 2024!

Ooh look at all those triangles and rectangles, with a rectangular prism going up.

It is amazing isn’t it, everywhere you look there are shapes. The final bridge is going to be beautiful

It’s going up at a cracking pace, so it won’t be too long away, either.

Hopefully – I think the construction was delayed at the start so the locals probably can’t wait for it to be finished. Actually you have made me wonder if it has now finished considering the speed of construction when I was there – I will investigate . . . . . . .. hmmm apparently it is not going to be finished until 2027?!

Clearly the foundations are quicker than the arches and the rest. Or they’re giving themselves plenty of time to produce an early finish.

I can’t begin to comprehend the calculations that must go into the planning and construction of a bridge. Great photos.

Neither can I, quite extraordinary – to go from vision on paper/computer to actual build
