There were even moments during my long weekend in Miami when it was raining cats and dogs, never for long though and it always dried up (almost instantly).

I know Christmas is almost upon us, in fact I am already on a train and in the early stages of my 400 mile journey to my Christmas destination. However no Christmas scenes as it is no longer the most wonderful time of year for me. Instead, I thought I’d share this sculpture park and my collection of steamed up shots – now these do make me smile.

I found all of these in Maurice A, Ferré Park opposite my Miami hotel. In addition to the huge sculpture at the start there are 26 cats and 26 dogs, and whilst it might feel like I have photographed more than that I didn’t even photograph all fifty two. They are all local pets and these aluminium versions have been here since 2023.

The walkway aims to celebrate the importance of our pets as well as educating on all the different breeds of dogs and sharing through multiple artists creative design the stories of these canines and felines, and the Miami districts they live in. You can found out more about the Dogs & Cats Walkway here.

      1. Every person I know who’s of Northern Hemisphere origin says Christmas in summer isn’t the same. But it’s what we’re used to and we love it. 😁 You know where we are if you ever decide to give it a try.

  1. Ah, yes, I recall the humidity in that part of Florida well, I certainly wasn’t expecting it in late September. I enjoyed your fun sculptures though I prefer the cats. Some of those dogs are very scary. Enjoy the change of scenery, and time with family. I know Christmas isn’t fun for everyone.

Wishing you a good 2025 Becky. Maybe a year in which we manage to meet up.

    1. The cats were more proportioned, and quite a few of them were street cats and their stories were extra special.

and yes let’s make 2025 our meet up year. April would be a good month for me

    1. oh that sounds like so much fun – did they have back stories too? All of these included their name, where they were from and then a bit on their breed

  2. That’s so cool. Here in Western Canada, we do farm animals like cows and pigs and horses. All the artists that do the paintings are so inventive and often innovative.

  3. Not the weather I would have expected in Miami (although I don’t know why I’m surprised, we had rain one day on the Gulf coast of Florida!) But I love these sculptures, especially the last cat, bottom left 🙂

I fully understand why Christmas is no longer the wonderful season it once was for you but I hope you have a safe trip and a spirit-lifting time with family 🤗

        1. totally bonkers journey, we were late because they had to stop people from boarding the train and at one point a whole train load of passengers boarded and then half were told to leave. Crazy day – but arrived and the 30 minute delay meant I got half my money back!

        2. Well, good on you for choosing the right train company. I have to be delayed by a hour or more to extract money from my two usual train companies. Awful journey for you – but it makes a good tale. Now …. relax …

  4. Yes, I expect there are lots of people wishing it was here and gone, Becky. Glad you have family to visit at this time. I’ll be on the road too, today. Thanks for the smiles and enjoy your company.
