Our penultimate day of #SevenforSeptember, and I have realised there have been very few birds from me this month. Highly unusual given how many bird photographs I have, however going through my birding shots I struggled to keep it to seven in the squares or it was a close up of just one. I did however manage to create a square of a decoration of Corn Buntings. Decoration being one of the collective nouns for Corn Buntings. They were a common sighting for us in the Algarve; sadly farming practice and loss of landscapes has led them to being a rare sighting in England these days.

Tomorrow is the last day of this month’s Squares Challenge, where has the month gone? Not sure when the next Squares will be, but probably January. I will let you know later in the year. In the meanwhile if you fancy exploring more of my birding collective nouns check out this post on my other WP blog.
At last I’ve found a square with a ‘seven’ connection, Becky, it relating to a long ago July in Zambia

Nicely done with the birds, and a ‘decoration’ is such a lovely term. I hope you’re enjoying your vacation. I’m double dipping with Terri again today: https://grahamsisland.com/2024/09/29/thats-strange/

A lovely crop. September is going out with a bang, gales and heavy rain. I hope you are having a lovely time and enjoying your travels. Where next?

That sounds like a good idea. Time to settle and digest. You’ve covered a lot of ground in more ways than one. Tx

That’s nice. Moving around can be exhausting. Are you with family now?

Sadly due to illness they’re not at their mountain/lake house, however I saw them for a few days whilst I was in delta and am at their place now 😀

Perfect photo for today. It is hard to find seven in nature. 😀

I LOVE this shot Becky! I know how hard it is to photograph anything in nature that has 7 of the same objects in the image. And make it square no less! This is my last entry for squares, thank you for hosting and continue to enjoy your travels, I’m looking forward to your next squares challenge.

Those little birds are really cute. I don’t think we have them around here. Wow! September is almost over! I’ll find something 7 squared either today or tomorrow. 🙂

Very pretty, I love cheeky little sparrows. Unfortunately, they have become sparse in our area, even the common ones.
This is mine for today:

same issue with sparrows for us, these buntings are even rarer. Scary how birds are disappearing

I just keep looking at them. The arrangement is as if they knew you were coming. Lovely.

Ah! I was wondering about the decoration … I took them for sparrows on the small preview picture so I was thinking it might be a chattering or a quarrel. For the penultimate square I was wondering for whom the bell tolls – or rather WHAT the bell tolls. https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2024/09/29/its-not-five-minutes-to-midnight-yet/
