    1. It is Lake Tahoe. This particular year we visited there were fires in Yosemite and it was affecting the vibrancy of the sunrises. Quite amazing but also quite scary as Yosemite is a few hundred miles from Tahoe. This year there are fires much closer, hopefully the smoke won’t be causing any problems

      1. I hope not. I’ve not been anywhere near to where you are going but I remember our last time in the Canadian rockies (2017) was affected by smoke – the views weren’t anything like as good as before. It is definitely scary how common fires are becoming.

      Off to Heathrow tomorrow – equal amount of anxiety and excitement at the moment. Have impressed myself with my packing though – less than 20kg for a month away

        1. ooh that’s even more impressive. I think I’d have been lighter if I hadn’t had to pack for every season plus take a kettle for the US hotels!!!

        3. Learnt from experience that they only have coffee makers, and no matter how you use it the water still tastes of coffee. A disaster for a green tea drinker who hates the taste of coffee. So got a travel kettle years ago.
