This is not the first time these starlings have appeared in a squares challenge or for Monday Portraits. I wonder if anyone can guess what the theme was the last time?

Their Portuguese name is ‘Estorninho-preto’ and here’s the post where I shared a little bit more about them. I wrote it less than two months before Robert died, and reading that post now makes me smile. Not only was there a link to seven on the day I posted it, it also brings back happy birding memories. There is also a giggle today as the photograph inspired one of you to start singing Leonard Cohen lyrics last time! She will know who she was as she has been singing Cilla and Kylie since.
Great choice for today.

A very happy post. And how obliging of the birds to pose in a group of seven!

incredibly obliging as most refuse!

Well, the song’s obvious, but no idea on the theme. Here’s mine today, just a tad tongue in cheek: https://grahamsisland.com/2024/09/09/whitemouth-moray-eel-spotted/

Great shot, I love the fact that they are on two parallel wires! I don’t recall seeing this previously so it can’t have been me singing Leonard Cohen, but I certainly was when I saw it today 🙂

Love that you’re singing it today along with Anabel, who was singing it originally

Becky, I forgot to mention about the Howdy-situation. I switched my site language to English (UK) in general settings and now in the blogs the visitors are greeted by “Hi, Soandso”. However, in the reader and my dashboard I am still greeted with the obnoxious “Howdy, eklastic”. I switched to English UK in my account settings but that seems to have no effect. I guess that’s probably your status as well.

Interesting but how frustrating it still won’t change on dashboard. I’ll have a check of my settings

Was it UP? Or possiby TOP?
But no matter, lovely photo even though at least one of them seems to show you its bum.
I’m not counting today: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2024/09/09/seven/

I haven’t looked yet, but was it UP? Of course it could be line and haven’t we all sang Birds on the Wire at some point? I know I have a photo with that title somewhere on the blog. Oh, and I looked up my pylon post to count the wires. There are seven (though more in total) but it appears they run out from each arm making six and then one from the top. Now I am wondering if all pylons are built the same 🤔 I’m waffling.

you’re not waffling as I was wondering the same when I was photographing mine!!
and yes from the responses it would seem everyone has . . . I am going to have to try and photograph the ones who sit on the wires just outside my velux windows!

Well, I know who that was without even looking! Mr Tootlepedal has been posting a lot of birds on a wire lately too, so Leonard comes to mind quite often.

Well I have looked now, and I see I went on to quote the line about drunks in a midnight choir. Be afraid. Be very afraid about what you might conjure up!

Packing all done then, and just ready to go? Exciting but difficult in some respects, I’m sure. Good thing you have Squares to take your mind off, Becky.
