I really didn’t think it was going to happen after my internet woes, but here we are on 1st September posting Squares.

It is seven years since we first began the Squaring Adventure, and like September was for me seven years ago this September is going to be an emotional and busy. Hopefully though Squares will keep me grounded, and I know you will all be very patient on the days when I get behind with pingbacks and comments.

In case you missed the two prequels, let me tell you a little bit more about the theme. Not only are we celebrating seven years of Squares, but it is taking place in what was originally the seventh month of the year, hence the name September. This leads me nicely on to some ideas on how to interpret the theme;

  • you could share a photograph which was taken at 7am, 7pm or anytime during the 7th hour
  • or maybe a photograph taken on the 7th of the month or in the 7th month, which can be either July or September!
  • perhaps you have a favourite shot taken 7 months ago, on a 7 mile hike or even 7 years ago when we first began squaring.
  • the number 7 might appear in your photograph or you could photograph 7 objects
  • or perhaps you know someone or a place with seven in their name!

A King Edward VII postbox and it has a collection at 7am!

There is so much you can do with seven, and as you will have spotted in my image once you start looking there are often multiple sevens to be found. But before you start having fun let me just quickly remind you of the challenge rules;

  • the challenge begins today and remains active until the last day of this month
  • it is a daily challenge but many will be posting every 7 days (obviously) and a few might post just once and a couple of other Squarers have said they plan seven posts for the month.
  • it is totally up to you whether you pingback via your post or add your link with a comment on one of my daily square posts. Both approaches work. It would though help me if you could use this month’s tag SevenforSeptember.
  • as you can see pretty relaxed rules apart from one absolute; your main image must be Square in shape!

I do hope to create at least one gallery during the month but I am busy with visitors the first half of September and away travelling the second half. The latter will be in multiple time zones, so the galleries may have to wait until later in the autumn.

  1. Just fallen at the first hurdle – checked my preconstructed url led to your post and it goes to Page Not Found. Oops! Not scheduled till 10 though, so I’ve got time to go and fix it. Didn’t think of postboxes, though I have loads of pics of Edward VII boxes because they were ones the Suffragettes could have acid bombed. Also have a few relatively rare Edward VIIIs. Great idea!

    1. ooh did you get caught out by the date bit?

      and pure luck for me on the postbox. I was popping a letter through it a month or so ago, and spotted the 7am. Didn’t really notice the Edward as just assumed it was Elizabeth with the ER, but then when I was walking past again the other day I suddenly realised it was a special one 😀 I look forward to seeing your suffragettes ones.

      1. And I have just noticed your punny title – groan! I don’t know what I did with the url, will check on the laptop in a bit. Using the iPad at the moment and it can make WordPress go a bit doolally. Shan’t be stealing your postbox idea because I’ve already planned my posts which all have seven whatevers. Seven postboxes might be a bit samey!

        1. lol!!!!! well September Squares would have been more logical, but I have used that before and so the numbering would have been an nightmare. Glad you got it sorted and just loving your squares xx
