These crag martins (or were they alpine swifts) are moving in front of a reconstructed wall, and sometimes it is forward movement, but other times who knows?!
The birds flight is rather like me. I know I am moving, but it not always clear if it is forward or not. When I look back through my grief journal it is evident I am making strides, but it is also evident that those strides can be in random directions. My grief will never leave. It is too big to disappear or even shrink after the sudden and traumatic loss I’ve experienced. I’ve simply learnt, and am still learning, how to grow my life around the grief. Some days it is hidden and other days it is not. But that’s okay. There is always movement even if, like these martins it is not clear which way I am going.
Despite the uncertainty about direction, I have stuck to the square shape for this is my 19th #SquaresRenew post. It is also my 750th (ish) square so I know the 4 equal sides rule is unbreakable! Up to you though how you interpret Burgeoning, Move Forward, Reconstruct and Renew, and if you are after ideas do check out yesterday’s gallery.
PS if you haven’t already play the video with the sound turned up high – you may need to click on the lines in the bottom left of square. The sound of the birds is lovely, and if you listen really carefully you can hear Robert too.
Love to hear the birds and how wonderful that you can also hear Robert. I have no voice recordings of Alex, but often can hear him. He found it amusing that often I couldn’t understand his Yorkshire accent.

oh so glad you can hear him, even if you don’t have the recordings. I need the recordings as the aphantasia also seems to affect my ability to recollect voices, fortunately I have quite a few voicemails from when I went travelling rtw and Robert used to leave messages for me

A lovely post, even if bitter-sweet for you. An accomplished little video too – and square! That’s clever. Here’s mine today: https://margaret21.com/2024/05/19/think-differently/

Things happen in life that you don’t “get over”, as some people say, you learn to live with it and around it. I’m glad this month and lots of squares is helping in a small way.

Quite sad that I can’t seem to put the sound on but I love your square video, Becky.

oh no – can you see the lines in the bottom left? If you click on them and then you need to turn up volume on your laptop.

I don’t have any lines to click on but it’s ok. I can imagine the birds, and I think I can still remember Robert’s voice. Sending hugs, darlin!

A sequence of dotted lines next to the time. Click on those and sound appears. You do need the volume high.

Such wise words that life rebuilds inside the grief. Have memories I think of us sitting in exactly the same spot with our picnic?

Is this in Portugal? And yes, life rebuilds inside the grief. It’s never the same, and the grief is always present.

It is indeed, and thanks for getting grief. Always helps being around those who understand how some grief is forever present
