I was preparing a post for next week when I spotted this photograph in my gallery. It was such a moment of quiet delight for Robert and I when we spotted who had come to visit us. Not a usual sighting in the garden hence neither of us being able to move to get closer nor to grab a camera from the other room. So you will just have to squint through the patio doors, and perhaps be as amused by me that Robert’s knees and feet also get in the shot!

PS In case you are not sure what you are trying to spot, my header photograph is also of a partridge, but that one is Portuguese and in a more usual setting. If my Portuguese partridge is also hiding from your view, click here.

  1. I’m catching up with posts I missed this month. Apparently, this stupid new WordPress response box changes my email notification settings for blogs I follow, including this one. I had no idea. I love that view out into the garden and the bird is a great bonus.

  2. And oddly enough, we have the same rug. Well, it isn’t the same. Mine is a copy, but it looks the same and I love it.

We supposedly have partridges around here — whatever version New England has, but I’ve never seen them. We have a lot of ruffled grouse who occasionally strut into the yard looking to see what goodies may be lying about — and since they are very rare visitors, I never have a camera when they show up. I won’t even try to get one because that’s bound to scare them off. It’s amazing what lives right outside our doors. Magical when they stroll by, isn’t it?

  3. Hey Becky, I’m sure this little fellow was a welcome visitor and what a delightful find while perusing your gallery 🥰 I can only imagine the wonderful memories it invoked.

  4. What a lovely memory for you. I managed to get a blurry shot of a Great Spotted Woodpecker on the peanut feeder this morning. I remember telling Alex that I had seen one back in May, but I wasn’t quick enough to grab a photo then. Little things…

  5. Looks like a peaceful spot to read or just stare out into the garden to see a partridge. Good to see you back blogging, Becky.
