This walk is another I return to again and again, the main reason being it is almost on my doorstep. If I time it right it is free from joggers and dog walkers, and I can imagine I am far out in the countryside rather than the outskirts of Winchester within a few yards of a housing estate! I have seen deer, weasels, red kites and kestrels from this path.

You will recall that on day one I said I cannot promise any galleries this month, but it remains a goal of mine to create at least one so if you have a square photograph join me and this month’s theme of WalkingSquares. Please don’t forget to include a pingback to my daily square posts as whilst I have been here twice a day so far I am not confident I going to be able to continue to be online daily let alone twice a day. So bear with me if there is a pause in my comments. Whatever happens though my squares are scheduled and I will be here regularly as walking with you virtually is also good for the soul!
What wonderful views, Becky. I was just out walking this afternoon, and saw wild turkeys and a mule deer couple–so very close! Isn’t walking just so therapeutic? Glad you are getting fed by the beauty of nature. I will link this post to my Sunday Stills “Paths and Trails” theme Sunday morning 🙂

I was trying to avoid overloading you with pictures, but I have a lot of pictures and a surprisingly large percentage are square. Okay, most of them are birds which for some reason seem to fit better in squares than other things. I’m not sure how I can notch these into “walking” since they are all set on my back deck. I will have a new one for you tomorrow.
Since we live in a woods, you could say that whenever we go outside, it’s a walk — right now, a walk through mountains of dead leaves!

That looks like such a lovely place to take a walk, Becky 🥰 and (even though I walk around my own suburbia) I too love it when I get the timing ‘just right’.

It’s so nice having good urban trails like yours, so one doesn’t always have to drive to walk! One thing I miss about Britain is the web of public footpaths, both urban and rural. It makes possible a whole variety of different routes. Here’s mine today: https://grahamsisland.com/2022/11/05/the-trail-behind-pololu-beach/

This looks like my kind of path! It’s exciting you know of a place to see red kites. I used to look for them from the motorway along a certain corridor and was made up if they were there. They’re a conservation success story.

Part of the reason they are here is that conservation project – they are spreading from that corridor. Quite extraordinary

We used to see red kites over Ludlow frequently, and also along the M40. Don’t see them here, buzzards and kestrels though.

You’re doing awfully well Becky in getting back to people so some down time is totally allowed. I hope that the Squares are helping not only with the walking, but also knowing how many of us care about you. This morning was definitely a PJs and hunker down on the sofa for me, but it’s clearing a bit now so I’ll pop out and see if there are some cute sheep to find. And lucky you seeing a weasel, I have not ever seen one of those!

oh thanks Jude, really appreciate the support. Got back from a 5 mile (damp) walk about an hour ago and feeling recharged – so thought I’d check in and walk virtually too.
Do hope you get out and see the sheep xx

PS second time I have seen a weasel, it really is luck as they move fast!

A very nice place at your doorstep! Actually, I cannot complain, as we live near the forest. Before Covid19 I used to walk there once or twice a week, but during the lockdowns nearly every day and the forest was always packed with walkers, dogs, bikes etc. This is much better now but I seem to know every tree in those woods …
This is my contribution, from Munich again:

Some day in person! One of the friends I took the other day had only recently discovered Glasgow had a canal (she’s only been her 9 years🤷🏻♀️) and was entranced.
