Just before the weekend I was bemoaning in a Friday bugbear the lack of silence in the English countryside, and you may recall I mentioned how it is much easier to find in the hills in the Algarve. Here’s an example of noise in the hills;

A location with sounds under 40 decibels for an hour or more are so difficult to find in many parts of the world that there’s even a battle to save these quiet spaces. So this is my odd square today; something that doesn’t happen often!

This post, well a still of this view, will be my desktop for February as today is Clare’s Share Your Desktop. What’s your desktop view for the month ahead?

    1. It’s a website that is great for editing videos although they might have an app version too. The free version leaves Clideo stamped all over it, but the paid for version is logo free.

  1. Isn’t there a song that goes like that? I’m playing croquet this morning so it will be the sound of giggles. I have noticed the flights are back, but it is half term, isn’t it?

    1. Canals are perfect for getting away from the noise 🙂

      Loving your door this morning, but looks like the WP gremlins weren’t so keen on my comment as they have hidden it again!!

  2. I didn’t hear anything and I thought I’d forgotten to turn the sound on only to learn I was hearing SILENCE. It’s never silent here during the day — always birds and creatures roaming about. The birds make quite a racket, especially when the Grackles drop by to raid the feeders. But at night, aside from the rushing of wind — when there is wind — in the trees, you don’t hear anything. Oh, maybe a dog barking somewhere — well actually, quite likely OUR dog barking — but if he is quiet, the world is very quiet. Almost no cars on the road at night and no traffic-filled roads nearby. I don’t know how we lived in the city with all that racket. Maybe if you have VERY good hearing, you night hear the soft sound of air under the flaps of the flying squirrels.

    I’ve got a drawing for you for the morning.Ii did take pictures, but drawings are definitely more odd and anyway, it’s just one and that is the oddest of the odd number.

    1. Hee hee it was quiet wasn’t it!

      If your noises are all under 40 decibels then that would fall under quiet too 🙂

      looking forward to the drawing

        1. That’s what we have been attempting to do with Brian, but only managed once so far so for second attempt will definitely make sure you are included 🙂

        2. Likewise, specially during a challenge month. I have noticed that some blogs are frequently putting me in spam, whereas others never do. It’s so odd!!
