This month I have laughed so much, also been surprised, learnt lots and at times been very puzzled. In fact you can probably find my February facial expressions in this unusual gallery of faces I stumbled across in a university basement in Pittsburgh a few years ago. Although maybe not that oddly long nose in the second square!

It has been such a great first half of the month, that I thought you deserved a bonus post today and as you can see it is not just bonus squares I have for you. I have also curated this morning our first odd gallery. We’re going to begin as usual with some new squarers and a few we have not seen for quite a while. Have fun exploring by;

If this is your first time visiting a Squares Gallery, then the best tip I can give, if you haven’t gathered it already from the mention of cocktails, is to make sure you have poured yourself a glass or mug of something.

This is not the largest gallery we have ever had, but to visit even a few squarers in every room may take a little while. So feel free to pop back and visit later if you don’t have time right now.

I have loved how a few of you have created a series with your squares this month. Who know that an odd theme could be so inspiring! So come and join me and visit a few more squarers.

Sadly a few regulars have not been able to join us this month as they are taking blogging breaks. Life does seem such an uphill challenge still because of Covid19. Sending hugs to all those affected, and a round of applause to everyone who has made it back for squares.

And so we come to the final room of our first gallery. Hasn’t it been splendid so far, and this final room really has some marvellous oddities so really hope you still have time to explore!

  1. Amazing work Becky, I’ve been trying to look at a few a day as they pop up on my notifications and have joined in a couple of times. Will have a look at a few more. It’s been a great challenge so far, the most diverse yet.

  2. Oh well done Becky: this looks fun as usual I’m not even going to pretend to look at this gallery for a few days, and I know you understand why. But I will file it away for later.

  3. Such a fabulous gallery, Becky. I can only imagine the work that goes into creating this review of Squares – but I do know it keeps you busy. Please know all your hard work is appreciated.

        1. They are the faces of Carnegie Mellon University students in Pittsburgh, and there was a grouping for different years, so guess just a way of remembering them

  4. Again we are amazed at your creativity. Thank you for sharing so many squares in this clever way. I have spent an enjoyable hour and MORE going through the list. So many I had never seen and would not have seen except for your roundup. 🙂

  5. Well, that passed a nice hour, Becky! I’m betting my face pulled a few of those expressions too, only I wasn’t looking at it so I can’t be entirely sure! 😀

    1. as long as your nose didn’t extend as long as that weird one in the second square!

PS and you are a super squarer for visiting so many other squarers 😀

      1. My nose is almost that long as it is…!🤥
Normally, for me, I don’t have time to fit a lot of blogging in in one go, but today I made sure I made the time! 🙂

        1. can’t quite believe that about your lovely nose!

and you are so wonderful making the time. I know there are quite a few to visit – actually just twigged I should have linked to Debbie as there are an even number of squares to visit!

        2. Oh yes… it’s the first thing you see when you see me!
You did get one link in there to Debbie already, so if you did link to her Even post, you’d have an even number of links to her even though your odd gallery features an even number of squares. Even that sounds odd. I need a lie down…

  6. Isn’t it wonderful? One of the great things about living in Israel — probably Portugal too — were the archaeological artifacts right on the surface. Easy to uncover and just waiting for us to find them. I’ve never found anything REALLY ancient. Just old Roman and Greek coins in the Mediterranean along the shores of Caesarea. Still, that was special, even if — in that location — fairly common.

No dinosaurs or ancient insects or prehistoric bones (I wish!). When we were in Arizona, I bought some tiny prehistoric creatures embedded in polished stone as gifts for friends. I thought they were wonderful, but not everyone who got they thought they were wonderful. They looked baffled. I don’t know what they thought I’d bring them. Silver and turquoise?

I think some of us are lucky. We are gifted with an ability to love history and ancient things. Others don’t get it. I think the ones who don’t get it become politicians and CEOs.

      1. I thought bringing every a tiny crustacean from the age of dinosaurs was a cool gift even if not everyone agreed. I admit, though, I crossed those names off my list. Sheesh. At least you can pretend to be pleased!

  8. Those faces are indeed odd, Becky! It takes the mind of a creative genius to create that. What a great gallery! So many of us look forward to your squares challenges. Have a great day and thanks again for hosting and inspiring us!
