A brand new photograph for today’s Past Squares and one I took only a couple of weeks ago when I was in Taunton, Somerset. The outskirts of the town may be a traffic nightmare but in the centre you find yourself stepping back, or even spinning into the past.

Thank you to everyone who has left a comment as well as a pingback on my square posts. Conversations with you make the challenge so much more fun, and I love visiting your pingbacks. They, along with the #PastSquares, also help me create our Square galleries
Interesting view of the past – and I’m glad that is not a part of my present. Here is my square for the day: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2021/10/08/roof-square/

I think she must have done that a time or two, Becky! Practise makes perfect. Don’t think I’ve been to Taunton.

A lovely flashback to a traditional way of life. In a way, mine is too: https://margaret21.com/2021/10/08/revisiting-a-sheep-is-a-sheep-is-a-sheep/

She did mention she had no running water, and had both ticks and fleas inside her home!

Ah. Well, we do mice from time to time.

As long as they are not in pantry or under the bed I can cope!

ooh yes time machine makes sense as it was so weird to see her just sitting there as we sat down for cake and coffee on modern seats opposite

It would have felt so different Was it hard not to keep watching what she was doing?

There was another table between us and her, and so got distracted by chatting to Mum and MrB, but we did go over and talk to her afterwards for a good 20minutes!

That chat would have been wonderful 🙂

She was such fun – she started by chatting to us as though she was still in her medieval world, but gradually moved into the 21st century as we chatted about best places to live in Somerset!

I love this photo! The colours are so perfect in contrast, that makes the lady stands out. Would be a beautiful painting.

We have historical museums where there are all kinds of wonderful objects from the past. I could probably find some that I could share. In the meantime I have more line squares that I’m ready to share.

Love to see, in the meanwhile going to thoroughly enjoy your lines

I like your capture…so much happening in the background but the lady is still the focal point of the image.
