On this day in 2017, I shared with you a rather lovely stroll in Birmingham. At the time I was recovering from my very first squares, I never envisaged I’d still be squaring four years later. You can enjoy the full walk here.

In case you hadn’t guessed October is Past Squares. A month to share memories, personal favourites, leftover squares and also have fun with themes you have always wanted to try.
I remember a lovely break staying with a friend in Birmingham years ago but I don’t remember the canal.

I have to say that Birmingham is not a place I had thought of for a weekend away, but these photos look enticing.

hee hee, you are not the first to think that and I am sure won’t be the last. It is though a wonderful find, and has some great hidden delights amongst all the concrete!

You’ve painted Birmingham in a very positive light. I must visit it sometime!

It is a great city for a weekend as there are some fabulous museums and restaurants, and beside the canal you can forget how much of it is concrete!

I combined Past Squares with my One Word Sunday post after moving the square from the middle of the month:

I’ve been there too Becky, when we visited my daughter and boyfriend (now husband) a few years ago! Lovely shots which took me back in time to my past 🙂

I would enjoy this walk. You could use the main photo for Jude’s new colour in October as well.

It really is – so much of Birmingham is concrete and so the canal feels like an oasis 🙂

Wish I could take all the credit but the pull down menu by month of previous months played a part too!

What a wonderful walk, love canal paths, particularly on our bikes 😃 As promised yesterday, some faded beauties: https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2021/10/03/past-their-best-but-still-beautiful-1-pastsquares-oct-03/

It is the best way to see Birmingham I think as away from the canal in the city centre it is a bit of a concrete jungle!
