It is the 1st of October, which means Squares is back! I know many of you re as excited as me as already we’ve enjoyed bonus prequels, lots of jumping up and down, fabulous first roofs and even fireworks. No wonder I am looking forward to catching up with everyone this month. Although just between us I must admit I am also feeling daunted by the month ahead. I am also juggling major post festival projects, family celebrations and planning for our winter sojourn. Still . . . . . I thrive on being busy.

Join me this month celebrating the past four years of Squares. There are so many ways you can do this using the tag PastSquares. Here’s an overview of what I plan to do over the next thirty-one days;
- Re-post a previous square post which at the time didn’t get much attention or perhaps received lots of attention
- Have fun with the word ‘past’ by sharing squares of history and heritage, and that includes past holidays!
- Share on this day moments of previous posts
If my PastSquares plans don’t quite work for you, here are some more ideas you might want to consider this month;
- Share your favourite square from a previous theme (see box to right or list below for your themes reminder)
- Share one or more leftover squares from a previous theme
- Share a photograph you’ve taken this year that would have been perfect for a previous theme
- Or if you have not been squaring for very long why not pick a theme you missed and share thirty one squares of that theme.

If you are wondering what I have done today, it is an ‘On This Day’ moment celebrating the past four years by looking back to when it all began. Today’s square first appeared on 30th September (which for some of you it is still is at this precise moment) and then I shared it again the following day – 1st October 2017 – when I looked back on the first thirty squares. The theme then was flowers, and it was followed by Sky, Circles & Squares, Roofs, In the Pink, Time, Spiky, Blue, Lines, words containing the word ‘light’, Top, Perspectives, Kinda, Up, Bright and Trees.
I am looking forward to celebrating the past four years with you, and can’t wait to see what you decide to square. And remember whilst some of us square daily you don’t have to – you can join us weekly, fortnightly or even only once. Just make sure you square!
I love the colours in this photo. Looking at the list of square challenges that we have already had, I am surprised to see that I only missed the first one – the flowers challenge! I thought I had arrived later to the party than that. I’m sure I will be able to find several photos that would have fitted in there, so I’ll be sure to use them.

Hee hee, look at you – you’ve been squaring since the first official squares then – flowers was never really official. It was a kind of soft opening to the challenge 😉

What a great square to start with! And I’m glad you liked my “I’m excited” post 😀 Here is my first square: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2021/10/01/blue-square/ – with a small intro about my ideas about the first 14 squares.

Ah, here’s mine. I hope your month doesn’t get too Full On. Just take time to breathe – preferably not exhaling tongues of fire. Take a lesson from my dragon. https://margaret21.com/2021/10/01/defeated-dragon/

Your dragon is fabulous, I want one!
PS don’t worry I am building in days of breathing time to make sure I stay sane 🙂

You can nick this dragon, or his stable mate also just visible in the photo, from a gatepost in Harrogate. I knew when I saw him he was perfect for Squares! Now, stay sane. Promise?

of course I will, along as you agree it would be it be perfectly sane for me to drive all the way from here to Harrogate and do what you suggest!!

Fabulous first post Becky. I’m waiting for Brian to publish his Last Photo on the Card, as, co-incidentally, I’m able to share a square with him too! Rain yesterday means I took not one shot that day..

I can feel the excitement all the way over here and I bet it even reached Debs in Sicily. Have a great month, Becky, but most of all enjoy those family celebrations! Special this year?

Well that was an inattentive auto-correct wasn’t it. Could never be a mistaken belief that you wouldn’t produce an excellent product.
Try fabulous I reckon 🙄

What a beautiful way to start the month, Becky. I’m a bit like you – not quite as organised as I have been in previous square months, but I’m getting there slowly and surely. I’ll go and click publish on my first post now. Looking forward to a fun month.

October arrived rather quickly didn’t it! Wondering if November might be a better month in future?
Glad though you are getting there, and will pop across in a moment to enjoy your first square 🙂

It is a beautiful square to start with Becky. I am so disorganized for this month, but I am sure it will work out.

awww thank you so much – and yes I think everyone, including me, is a tad disorganised this month. It is as though October sprang out of no where!

What a beauty to kick off with, Becky. I can see we are all going to have fun with the past.
I am totally disorganised, but I’m planning to do a bit of a Margaret, and whizz you all around the little bit of Sicily that I’ve been enjoying this week, and using the old theme of lines. Not sure whether I can keep that going for a whole month though!

ooh a whole month of lines again, that would be so impressive. However many though you create, can’t wait to see Sicily 😀
PS We all seem to be disorganised this month, at least we get all muddle through together 🙂
