This is very bittersweet since as well as being the last on the card for Brian, it is also the last photograph ever to be taken of this gorgeous boy.

Septimus 2006 – 2021

I took the one above on Tuesday 31st and the one below a few days earlier. These past few days I had taken to sitting with him on the bed in the afternoons to settle him as he wasn’t feeling well. We knew things were unlikely to improve, so whilst he slept I took the opportunity to capture a few photos. Yesterday we went to the vet for his final visit.

Septimus joined our family in 2006, at around 6 to 9 months old. No-one is too sure of his exact age. He had been found on an industrial estate in Hampshire, and needed a home. Fortunately for us and for him that home was ours. My seventh cat, and probably the most characterful and loving cat I have ever had the privilege of living with. And that’s saying something as the other six were pretty fabulous too, specially Tiggy.

    1. Thank you so very much – huge hole in our lives at the moment. I know though it does get easier, so just one day at the time at moment and enjoying the memories of him xx

    1. Thanks Brian – I did hesitate to share, but I knew you adored him too and it just felt the right way to cherish his memory and legacy by linking with you. I’ve been down to talk to him under the willow this morning, and said everyone misses him!

    1. Thank you for your lovely words, you are right it’s never enough. I had though a suspicion he wouldn’t age as well as some of my other. Just too big and too characterful xx

  2. I’m sorry for your loss but glad you’ll have such good memories and photos. As my dad says, the biggest problem with animals is that they don’t live long enough.

  3. I’m so sorry, Becky. I was always happy when I saw that you included photos of Septimus. Even in pictures, without knowing him directly, his personality shone through. I’m sending a big hug and Henry joins me with a head bump.

  4. I think everyone on here has fallen for Septimus and his uncanny ability to get into every square challenge! I am sorry that he has been ill and even sorrier that he’s gone. Fifteen is a good age and he has had a good life with you. I know you’ll miss him dreadfully, I still miss my sweet Benji who was the most gentle of cats, who died the same week as my granddaughter was born and that was 17 years ago!

    1. They’re such an important part of our lives aren’t they. He’s got a great spot in the garden, near Tiggy and close to one of his favourite sunning spots 🙂
