Amazingly I am not the first person to mention Christmas in this month’s squares. Like the others when I spotted the photo I just knew I had to include it in #TreeSquare. So hope everyone will forgive me!! I probably should beg forgiveness for my title too as the first Christmas Trees wouldn’t have looked anything like this. However I didn’t want to mention Christmas in my title so thought instead I’d include a little bit of history.

PS Talking of history, I thought you might be interested to visit a part of my work life which has been taking up my non-square and sometimes my square time this month. I am both a trustee of and volunteer director for Hampshire History Trust, and every September we coordinate Heritage Open Days in this part of Hampshire. It is a FREE heritage and history festival. There will be more than 100 in-person events and online events this year, so wherever you are in the world you can join in the fun. Here’s the programme, well around 75% of the programme the remaining 25% I’ll be adding in the next few weeks!

        1. A friend of mine, and also a co trustee of my charity is the poetry festival manager! They are running events again this year – a hybrid of online and in person events.

  1. Lovely! Although I don’t think begging forgiveness is all that appropriate in the context of the multi-tasking you’re engaged in, to our advantage. It’s been another great month, Becky and thanks so much as always. This is my last planned submission, but who knows whether that resolution will outlive tomorrow?

      1. I have some blue buildings I need to share for Jude and not one has a tree in it, not even if you were to squint or turn them all upside down. Sadly.

    1. It is a long process coordinating it all, and there are times when Nicky and i wonder if it is worth it but then we get to September and have a fabulous time!

  2. Christmas had been on my square list but never happened. Or maybe I’ll add in an extra one – we’ll see.
Where was this tree, Becky? It is certainly a style that is all the vogue in Madrid.
And we can see why you’re busy. The array of events looks wonderful!

    1. ooh bonus be good. This was in Olhao – my Portuguese home town 🙂

I know we’re mightly impressed by the events this year. And more still being registered as I type now. By the 15th August there will be way over 100, including events from Waitrose! They are opening up one of their farms and also their Water gardens. Be amazing if you could be in this neck of the woods for a day or two of the festival.

  3. Cool ‘tree’! And the Heritage thing must be exhausting, though it looks fascinating (I’d like to visit that old brewery in Selbourne). I don’t know why, but I always thought you lived up north!

    1. Thanks 🙂

And I did live in Leeds for a while, so maybe I have kind of suggested I lived up north in a post or two!
Do hope you can join in with some of the online events – the full programme will be accessible on 15th August, so I’ll make sure that i post again about it then

        3. ah almost certainly not. He can always cancel tickets if he can’t go, but won’t be easy to pick them up at last minute if he doesn’t book
