Not long now before Squares returns and as you can see I have been practicing cropping in anticipation. My Monday Portraits were going to take a break in July but then I spotted a few trees had been photo bombed by birds so Monday Portraits will keep going. Yay!
I suspect Jude and a few others will spot that yet again I have not said what bird this is. However there’s a proper excuse today. I wanted to see who can identify this bird. It may not be obvious as this is a a juvenile, and rather like starlings that means its plumage is quite different to the adults. It will be another 4 years before this eagle (ooh big hint!) will have its full adult plumage. So I won’t be surprised if you don’t identify it. If you think you have worked it out or would like more hints then take a peek at this shot of an adult.
You could always schedule Monday portraits. You don’t have to write just bung up a photo please 😞

Hee hee don’t worry they are already scheduled and with trees too! I have even found a few to take us into August and onto my Portuguese blog 🙂

My July is shaping up to be busy too. I have my turn at being Cee’s guest tomorrow as well as other challenges being organised 😰

Yes she said you were taking over CMMC tomorrow. You are a star doing that when Last on the Card is around the corner

I had my CMMC done last week and Cee had a look over. I had to have that scheduled or it would have driven me mad getting it done

Can it be a Bald Eagle?

I agree with Aletta – I think it’s a juvenile Bald Eagle.

It appears to be banded. Have to get to work on my “Trees” entries, even though so many beg for a vertical photo. 🙂

Oh i know trees do like the vertical, so many of my initial selection ended up on cutting room floor!

They do turn out lovely don’t they. I used to see a lot of these where I lived in Washington State. I rather miss them here.

Oh you were so fortunate to see them so regularly. Such a majestic bird, also very heavy! I’ve been lucky enough to fly a male, but boy did my arm ache on landing!

I once saw two of these birds fly into the trees on the edge of my lawn. I watched them for a while figuring they’d fly out the way they came. Instead, they took off farther into the trees and all I heard was the sounds of branches breaking as they went!

ah maybe not so majestic after all!!!

Well, it was majestic that they were able to power through the woods!

There’s a small population around here although I see more adults than young.

I was completely bemused when I first saw it, but then it isn’t a British bird!

We also get the occasional Golden Eagle but they’re much less common.

Scruffy looking fella. I had a peek at the adult. So beauty does await.

So scruffy, but then guess teenagers often are!! Glad you nipped across to see what a beauty he will grow into 🙂
