I would love to have a room like this in my house, not sure what I’d use it for but it feels so wonderfully light. I wouldn’t though want it to be where this one is located. It is beside the River Severn, which may lovely, but it regularly floods. Check out the small window openings at the bottom of each window. They are there to let the flood water out!
You can see the high water marks in two of the pictures. Can you see the line right at the top, that must have been a huge flood. The 2000 and 2020 floods were also incredibly high, but fortunately not at these levels. If they don’t seem that high visit my Ironbridge post to see photographs of the building (Museum of the Gorge) from the outside or the museum’s own post on the devastating 2020 floods.

If you haven’t already joined us for squares I would love it if you did the same. However if daily sounds too daunting even for the final few days, don’t worry. It is okay to join us just once or twice in this final week. All I ask is that your image has 4 equal sides, and that it reflects the theme of bright.
As many of you know I am away at the moment, but even when I cannot check in with every comment on the day it is left, I still love receiving comments as well as a pingbacks on my square posts. So if you have a moment do say hi, and I promise I will respond soon. Together, with the tag BrightSquare, we can support each other and be;
sparkling, polished, shining, clever, cheerful, colourful, astute, brilliant, sunny, glorious, translucent, distinct and clear
A lovely light room. Perfect for being creative or simply reading a book. I love my light and bright room which is well away from any river!

that’s what I thought – I would have happily sat there but there were all these other tourists!!!

Annoying things, tourists 😊

Lovely window, but I’m not so sure about the flooding! It would be tricky to know what to use a room for if it was always under threat of flood?

the whole building was once a warehouse, and so guess they just cleared out before the flood period. No idea what they used this part of the building for though

I suppose that would make sense – they’d have some idea of when floods might occur, so could plan accordingly.

I think windows should always have rewarding views. What a lovely room. I’m out on a farm https://somerville66.blogspot.com/2021/04/bright-squarechallenge-26.html

I so agree. I despair of new housing estates which seem to forget that the view out of the window is as important as the flash inside

I agree with you – I do not fancy the idea of having a room in my house where I can display high water marks …
My contribution today is probably the brightest I will manage all month: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2021/04/26/gold-and-silver-sculptures/

I love the light, and I love the window. Not a place I’ve been to since my childhood. I must return!
I’ve gone with a photo I’ve shared before, but I couldn’t close the month without a sunrise and this beautiful city: https://wp.me/p35cNK-q1X

Wouldn’t it have made more sense to put the small openings at the bottom. I’m not sure that theory is right. Another simple square from me for day 26:

Seeing how the Clarence River floods I am glad I live in the mountains. Wonderful windows and light 🙂 🙂

Yes I would never want to live in a valley. Take me to the hills and mountains, as long as I can have this room too!

Looks lovely and peaceful by the river! Amazing that it has survived so many floodings! My post for today is a bit higher up and well out of way for any flooding. https://mariawijk.wordpress.com/2021/04/26/enjoying-the-bright-light/

It was purpose built to cope with floods, but as a warehouse not a museum hence the problems today. Some conversions are not always sensible!
