We’re happy bunnies because the Redwings have returned to our beech trees. They are only here in the winter months, and for the past couple of years we have been fortunate enough to look up just at the right moment and spot them at the top of the trees. It is one of the tiny silver linings from not being in Portugal.

Even when everything is brown and grey they look fabulous in the tree. Is this brown enough though for Jude?!

By the way thank you to everyone who has left a message these past few days, and also thank you to so many of you for visiting at least one other squarer. Together, with the tag SquareUp and Jude’s Colour2021, we can be upbeat.

    1. ooh yes they have been demolishing the berries on one of our neighbours bushes – such fun to watch, and also explains why hollies have been appearing under out beech trees!

    1. so lucky, we have at least three visiting each week now and sometimes more. Thank goodness we have our beech trees, everyone else around us seems intent on chopping down their big trees 😦

    1. They are such lovely birds as are the fieldfares which we occasionally see in the countryside. Both though are becoming rarer for us 😦

      1. The constant growth and loss of habitat is a problem plus the climate changes that are real! It has put a lot of wildlife and birds in a real predicament.

    1. It is so wonderful – been such a good year for garden birding for us. Although the finches and pigeons are less keen on the sparrowhawk that now visits weekly for lunch!
