It is believed these are the eldest and youngest brothers – William and Philip – of the Robinson family in the 1920s. They were both Constables. Although the more I look at this picture, the more uncertain I become. Great Uncle William and Great Uncle Philip were 20 years apart in age and yet these two Constables could almost be the same age. They do look alike though so are clearly Kindred Spirits, although I am not sure what they’d think of Debbie’s Kindred Spirits!

I’m keeping it simple today: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2020/10/24/in-a-kind-light/
PS: On the news feed front: no ,not another problem with YOURS but yesterday I didn’t get Tourmaline’s (of “color your world”). So it might not have anything to do with what YOU are doing.

I like to see old police photos as I have them in my family too. Could you check their names using their police numbers? Meanwhile I have an exotic flower today https://lizannelloyd.wordpress.com/2020/10/24/kindasquare-24/

I am trying to check but struggling to know which constabulary as each set of records held by a different county, and these two (if they are William and Philip) worked for more than one constabulary. I am not too sure which one they’d have been working for at the time the photo was taken!!

It is difficult with the police. Some counties are better than others & it depends on the date.

It’s interesting how close family likenesses can be and down the family line too. Philip on the right looks a little younger to me.

oh it so is . .. my nephew looks exactly like my dad, and my eldest stepdaughter is the spitting image of her mum. Just fascinating 🙂

It is a great reminder to make sure we name all our current family photos!

Very much alike, Becky, and you do get people who don’t look their age.
Although looking at your header image, you can see drooping eyelids (sigh… 🙂 prominent as one gets older, on the gentleman to the left. So I guess he’s the older one.
Keeping with history and castles 🙂 here’s my Kind Squares for today and I created one for tomorrow too. Yay! 🙂

That’s what I am kinda thinking, but going to investigate further as it is curious

You better watch out as investigating such tales might suck you into a vortex of stories and threads. 🙂
Kinda kidding there (she said, gasping for air from behind a pile of books).
Enjoy it!

I love these glimpses into your family history Becky. So many tantalising stories, just out of reach! I’m trawling the archives today too, remembering a fabulous, if dodgy day out a couple of years ago: https://margaret21.com/2020/10/23/an-altercation-in-the-farne-islands/

They look the same age to me too, Becky, when I see them together, but I looked closer at the great photo, and the one on the left looks older. Maybe not twenty years older, but he has older eyes. Mind you, in those early photos, everyone looked older to me, even the little ones!
Kindred Spirits indeed!

You’re the second one who thinks that about the eyes, and it what I had been thinking too . . so maybe. I am though going to investigate further. There is a family member still alive who might know

I’ll keep you posted – I am trying one of the nephews to see if they might know. Only made contact a few weeks ago so not had the chance to ask before now

They do look to be more in the same age than 20 years apart. They look so similar that they must be close relatives. Intriguing.
I´m almost out of squares so my task for the weekend is to stock up for the last week of October squares. Both a kinda nice task and kinda sad as it is almost over for this time.

Squares stacking up sounds a good plan for the day . . . .and you are so right about the intriguing. Going to do some more research!
