Continuing yesterday’s theme of finding the best place in which to stand, I thought I would share a series of photographs of Autumn croci in Portugal. Some of you may recall one or two of these from a 2018 Portuguese post, if so you will spot I didn’t share back then the ones that really don’t work as examples of a photographic artistry!

The countdown to the end of July Squares has definitely begun. Can’t quite believe it will be finished at the end of this week. If you haven’t yet taken part there is still plenty of time! The theme is perspective, and the only rule is that your photograph(s) must be square in shape. Find out more here.

        1. I did it in my copy of Photoshop Elements; it must be the same in the big photoshop. It includes layers and masks. Here’s what I did:
You make a copy layer of the original image, and then create a new adjustment layer, where you set the hue and saturation to the lowest points. This shows the image in black and white.
Then, you add another adjustment layer, a black and white gradient map this time.
Select the pen tool, and the foreground colour to black and paint over the area where you want to keep the colour.
Then select the hue/saturation layer again, which shows the finished result.
Set the pen colour to white and paint over any area that needs removing.
Then, save the picture. It’s fiddly but fun. 🙂
