The original photograph was portrait which meant when I cropped to square I had a choice – focus on the lamp or the cobbles. I couldn’t decide. Fortunately though thanks to the new ‘image compare’ option I can ask all of you to decide for me! Look there’s even a poll.

My first preference was for the lamps version, but the bottom of that crop bothers me. The doors show this isn’t the upper story of a building, but the image doesn’t seem grounded. But then, I don’t like the lamp being cut off in the cobbles version. Perhaps a tie? Wouldn’t mind seeing the full image, though, even if it’s not square. Oh, and what was the poll you mentioned? Your viewers are really close on which photo they like best? I like the one with the cobbles showing. To me it feels more complete. I didn’t even notice that one of the lights was cropped slightly, because my mind automatically completed it, since it was the same as the other light.
