As we approached I assumed the inspiration was a ship, I can see a prow (bow) from here. Apparently however Kengo Kuma was inspired by Scottish sea cliffs. So here’s another view from the cliff edge.

I was inspired by the cliffs of northeastern Scotland – it’s as if the earth and water had a long conversation and finally created this stunning shape.

  1. My late brother was an artist and lived in Broughty Ferry. He was so excited about the V&A coming to Dundee. He also sailed a lot on the Tay photographing dolphins. Thanks for posting this, it was lovely to see it.

      1. Yes, He painted mainly skies . His studio was right at the front in B Ferry, facing South. So fab skies from sunrise to sunset. If you Google Ken Bushe landscape artist, you’ll find him.
