As we approached I assumed the inspiration was a ship, I can see a prow (bow) from here. Apparently however Kengo Kuma was inspired by Scottish sea cliffs. So here’s another view from the cliff edge.

I was inspired by the cliffs of northeastern Scotland – it’s as if the earth and water had a long conversation and finally created this stunning shape.
Kengo Kuma

When I as last in Dundee that hadn’t been built. I’m reserving judgement. I’m on the road today https://somerville66.blogspot.com/2020/07/squareperspectives-on-road.html

I’ve not seen it from the railway bridge or other side of the Tay but from above, beside it and approaching by car it’s a ship!!

Yes, ship looks most likely. I remember the statue of Desperate Dan and penguins everywhere.

I also see the bow of a ship; the second shot reminds me of some of the WW2 coastal defence structures in The Channel Islands 😃 Here’s mine: https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2020/07/13/faraway-or-small-square-perspectives-13/

I don’t see a ship or a cliff. It does remind me of something that I can’t put a finger on.
Here’s my contribution to day 13:

It does look like a boat to me, Becky. And my mind told me that your rectangular photo was actually two photos until I realised! I think it’s the line above it that made me think that way. Perspectives, eh?

I’ve just had another look, and caught a glimpse of the cliff… but it’s gone again now – it’s back to being a boat.

It so does look like a ship doesn’t it. I wonder if the architect’s perspective changed after it was completed?!

Maybe because of the water? Interesting though.
