Not really considered before how delphiniums look before they are in full flower! They are such a gorgeous flower. Please don’t ask me which type they are. I have so far considered Black Knight, Magic Fountains, Excalibur Dark Blue Black Bee and varying hybrids but I haven’t got a clue! Maybe Jude, Susan or Margaret can offer a gardener’s perspective?
And talking of perspectives a huge thank you to everyone who has joined us already. As of yesterday there were more than 50 of us taking part, and the variety of perspectives has been inspirational. If you have not yet created a square, here’s a reminder of how this month’s blogging challenge works;
I am sure many of you will be up bright and early as I was in my first hint and I am hoping everyone will be able to put a smile on our faces and look on the bright side of life as I did in my second. Or maybe April will be the month when you indulge us with a month of bright and colourful squares. As you can see there is so much we can do with the theme of bright!
Hopefully today’s post will inspire plenty of bright ideas. I will probably share more bright synonyms and phrases before my opening square on the 1st April, as I really want you all to join me again. January was such fun!
As always during a square month I will share squares daily. If daily sounds daunting, don’t worry. It is okay to join us weekly or even just pop in occasionally with your squares. The frequency of your squares depends on you and your blog. The only absolute rule for joining in from 1st April is that your photograph must be bright and square!
The theme for July is perspectives, and your Square could contain;
- Art – the method by which solid objects drawn or painted on a flat surface are given the appearance of depth and distance.
- Geometry – the way that objects appear smaller when they are further away and the way parallel lines appear to meet each other at a point in the distance.
- Point of View – a particular way of considering (looking at) something or the capacity to view things in their relative importance
- Vista – seeing something over distance or time

These flowers are so beautiful Becky.

Oh Becky, I adore your delphinium photos. 😀 😀
I was on another outing yesterday and shook Sasquatch’s hand.

Thank you so much Cee, always think of you when I photograph flowers. And in recent days am finding that I also think of you when brushing my teeth!
Intrigued by your title, be there in a moment

I love your delphiniums whatever the make. I’ve been wary of growing them due to slugs, but those lovely spires would be good in the guerrilla garden.

It’s been suggested this morning that we grow them in posts, so might try that next year. I let you know if I best the S&S!

The S & S are on the rampage just now. The little blighters!

I am touching wood as I say this but we have had hardly any S&S this year, not sure who is eating them but whoever it is is making me happy! I’ll try and send them your way if I ever find who it is

Not something I grow although I love the colours, sadly far too windy here for tall plants and the S&S would devastate them anyway. I remember taking loads of close-up photos of them at Wisley where they were doing a trial – so many gorgeous colours. I have joined you today by linking up my photo challenge. 😁
Happy Sunday! (What’s left of it, I had forgotten that I needed to link to your post so mine was lingering in draft all morning)

Lovely images, Becky. It’s good that we can learn to look more closely at things – I’ve certainly been doing that during lockdown. And these are real beauties, who are cleverly anonymous until they burst into full bloom.
I’m in the Cathedral with one of favourite paintings, and a bit of geometric perspective: https://travelwithintent.com/2020/07/05/perspective-near-and-far-st-alban-cathedral/

I love delphiniums, such stunning colours in your photograph. I grew them in a large pot last year to keep the slugs off but none this year. My photo today shows light and shade on a peaceful spring day in Alte https://somerville66.blogspot.com/2020/07/squareperspectives-5-light-and-shade.html

Me too – I tried once to grow delphiniums but they were devastated by slugs and/or snails if I remember correctly.
