I thought I’d follow yesterday’s beauty with history and creativity today.

And I have opted for footlights, not the theatre in Cambridge but the lighting which illuminates a stage from the very front edge. Apparently footlights were first used in England in the 17th century, and originally consisted of oil lamps with floating wicks. However having opted for theatrical lighting I then realised the only theatrical shot I had was of an amphitheatre! Oops, far too early for footlights. There again I’m sure the Romans must have invented something similar for their theatres.
PS If you are intrigued by this model check out the full display here.
So much detail to this model. And so much patience to create.

I went to look at the plight! What a great use of the word, I couldn’t come up with anything for that. I have also played along with Brian’s invitation so you have a bonus square from me today!

Am all for creative stretching, Becky, and this is a very fine model, footlit or not. I think mine’s a bit of a stretch too 🙂

And you forget to mention that footlights were the reason why so many theaters lit up or rather went down in flames in times gone by.
I’m sticking with festive lights (it’s only just past the 9th night of Christmas): https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2020/01/03/starlight-starbright/
