Another one from the archives for this month’s squares of words ending in light, and who can blame me – just look at this delight of fairy-lights, streetlights and sunlight at twilight! I do have some new photographs planned for the days ahead, and I even have two days when I have yet to take the photograph for the challenge. One of the delights though about the squares challenge is that the only rule is the photograph must be square, so entirely up to you whether your photographs are new, old or even repeated. Here’s to a happy and light filled 2020.
Very romantic indeed! I’ve got delight on offer, with backlighting to make sure you approve 🙂 –> https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2020/01/02/delight/

I am so so happy you are continuing the German tradition, I think Debbie might be joining you in this brilliant approach.
I love it as i get to learn new words 🙂

I saw that (Debbie’s Polarlicht and her answer)! I tried to make my 2 compounds into 1 which is possible, theoretically, but would be unusual. Gegenbelichtetes Fensterbild would be another option. 😀

I never really thought about compound nouns before now, let alone merging two into one! Not sure we can even do that in English?

No, compound words work differently in English. Only if the collocation is very old it will be one word in English, e.g. sunset or sunlight. Sometimes compound nouns are written with a hyphen, e.g. long-term, second-rate. Often these hyphenated words exist also as two separate nouns but to us Germans this is unusual and often one can detect a text by a German mother-tongue speaker (ha!) by the hypens where there shouldn’t be any.
