You may recognise this little fellow as he (or is it a she) first appeared as a bonus square in spiky squares in March. I like it so much I thought I’d share it again. Initially it was the lines on the back that caught my eye, and then I noticed the eyes!

Wonderful close-up of a grasshopper! Or maybe you weren’t so close up? How do you get that close without it jumping away?

I was about a metre away if that, and then used my zoom. It seemed very content on its almond!

I FINALLY FOUND YOUR PINGBACK! I take this same picture every autumn. That big old maple tree never fails me — unless we get a hurricane or an early snow!

Thanks Becky.
Every so often I like to concentrate on square format. It does give such a different look/focus to a picture.

That’s what we all think too, hence us creating daily squares every quarter. Hopefully your square moments will tie in with ours!

How cool the lines on the grasshopper’s eyes. Reminds me of that guy on Star Trek with those glasses!

Ooh I wonder if it was a grasshopper which inspired?!

I don’t know, but could be. I never knew grasshoppers had stripes on their eyes, at least this one did. 🙂

I must research how common it is.

I’m happy to see this beautiful creature that has so many subtle, complementary patterns. I can imagine a craftsperson trying to recreate the effect in marquetry – that would be a test of skill!

Now that’s a creative thought…… Certainly would be a test!

A very warm welcome to squares. This is a fabulous square, and to think you captured it on your phone.
