The lovely Nancy is encouraging us to share hands, and in particular the stories they tell. So yesterday I decided to change today’s lines&squares post to this one.

The hands belong to a Winchester Cathedral scribe, whom I visited in the Undercroft during the Heritage Open Days festival. I am intrigued by the lines they are writing. Are they sharing their story, an extract from someone else’s story or are they random lines?
Oh, isn’t the handwriting wonderful. Lovely photo, Becky.

Beautiful hands at work here. It reminds me of my Catholic school upbringing and the emphasis on handwriting, for which I am grateful. My post is a memory from my past, way back in the 1940’s.

There are only a few elements from the past I wish had been retained, handwriting is one of them!
