I have been sharing such random things over the past few days, I thought I’d share something pretty today. I’ll be sharing more from this walk in a few days on my Portuguese blog so if you don’t already follow me over there and like the look of the view pop across now and follow!

Pretty lavender blue – I see you haven’t named this one – any idea? I have a flower for you today, one that is instantly recognisable 🙂 https://wp.me/p79zFr-27i
I read your conversation with Sue – how utterly bonkers to plant eucalyptus trees – have they learned nothing from the horrendous bush fires in Australia? And why? What are they used for?

Nope no idea!! Really must investigate . . perhaps I’ll do that today 🙂
Yours is gorgeous today, I wish mine had looked that good this year but think someone must have enjoyed all the seeds as only a couple showed!
and I know totally totally bonkers. For paper industry.

oh I am guessing it is Anchusa azurea – Large Blue Alkanet. Thoughts?

It does look like the italica ‘Dropmore’ type which is more lavender than blue. The only Alkanet I know is the very blue one, but that is Green Alkanet I believe. Hard to ID plants on the flower alone, you need leaves too. (Plus location, time of year in flower, height etc. but you know all that 🙂 )

I was saddened to hear of the fires in Portugal….

An annual problem unfortunately, partly because of climate change but also the peninsula is a high risk area. However they get so huge and out of control they plant hundred if not thousands of eucalyptus which is not native and a huge fire risk 😦

Yes, very pretty, indeed! I’m going for practical more than pretty. Since it is so hot I am sharing an ice cream box, it was standing amid assorted rubbish and stil looked gleaming blue.
