Alentjo architecture

As you all know there is only one rule if you want to part of the Square Gang and be sure your squares make into the gallery.

Your main photograph must be square!

But even I find that challenging sometimes, especially when I have a habit of photographing buildings from an angle! And I also suspect this square of azulejos won’t be sufficient for either Brian or Sue given Monday’s comments 😉

If you have not joined in with Squares before then why not join us this month. There are around sixty of us taking part this month. The theme for July is ‘blue‘, and as always it is totally up to you how you interpret the square theme but here are my suggestions for how we might stay connected on our square adventures this month.

  1. Your photographic square could be a ‘Bolt from the Blue’ – something unexpected or surprising such as a headless woman on the parapet!
  2. Alternatively why not explore ‘Into the wide blue yonder‘ – sky, sea or maybe a location that is appealingly unknown and mysterious
  3. Or if you prefer keep it simple with ‘Blue‘ – whether that’s azure, cobalt, sapphire, cerulean, navy, ultramarine, indigo, or turquoise
  4. And if you’re feeling particularly adventurous try to combine two of these, or maybe all three as I have today with my blue sky, shades of blues and unexpected headless woman!

Hopefully you can join me in posting daily but if daily is too difficult, then it is okay to post every other day, weekly or even just ‘once in a blue moon‘. As no matter how often you post I will include you in at least one blue gallery (well I will if you keep your photographs square!!).

  14. Pretty pastel blue tiles, stained glass and headless statue, what’s not to love? Actually I would love to get my hands on this gorgeous house and give it some TLC. New window frames, clean up the facade – the tiles actually look in pretty good nick unlike some Portuguese houses I have seen in Lisbon. Do you not get the urge to buy a doer-upper over there?

    1. I would love to have somewhere like this but not as a doer upper, would like someone to have already sorted frames, facades, repaired tiles . . . mainly because MrB and projects take decades so i would get so frustrated!!!
