Thank you to everyone for your support and patience; I know it was ‘out of the blue‘ that June Squares was becoming July Squares. You’ve all been ‘true blue‘ blogging friends.

Today is the day I am going to share announce the theme for next month’s squares, and I am really hoping you are going to like the July theme. But before I share what do you think of my moon shot? It is ‘once in a blue moon‘ that I capture a moon shot I like!

Birthday Moon

Hope you like it and I also hope you have guessed the theme from all my hints? No? Well you better continue reading. First a reminder though that the challenge runs from 1st to 31st July and the one rule as always is that your main photograph must be square.

Now for the theme, I just know you are going to have fun with this one! Especially as to help us all I have copied last September’s approach when we were ‘In the Pink‘ and come up with a few idioms to cure us of any ‘SummertimeBlues‘ or ‘WinterBlues‘ (depending on your hemisphere).

The theme for July squares is ‘Blue‘, and I am thinking that maybe your squares could;

  1. be a ‘Bolt from the Blue’ – something unexpected or surprising
  2. explore ‘Into the wide blue yonder‘ – sky, sea or maybe a location that is appealingly unknown and mysterious
  3. simply be ‘Blue‘ – whether that’s azure, cobalt, sapphire, cerulean, navy, ultramarine, indigo, or turquoise
  4. and there is an extra challenge for those of you up for it – can you manage to combine two of these, or maybe even all three?

Hopefully no-one will be ‘rushing around like a blue-arsed fly‘ or be ‘turning the air blue‘ or needing any ‘blue-sky thinking‘ as you search for next months squares for July. However if daily is too difficult, then feel free to post every other day, weekly or even just ‘once in a blue moon‘. No matter how often you post I will include you in a blue gallery.

  7. Thanks for the reminder and theme for July for your squares challenge, Becky. July happens to work great for me, as I am recovering from foot surgery all this month. Blue is a great theme and now my creative juices are flowing!

  8. July might be challenging for me, but I shall see what I can do. Blue is my favourite colour and I am sure I have hundreds of blues, though many will have already been posted!

      1. Looking after my son again as he recovers from another operation. Well at least that is the plan at the moment. It should have been 31st May but was postponed. Now end of June.

    2. Really glad you love the colour blue, i have so much blue in my wardrobe!!

      I am going to be scheduling all of mine for July as though it is a less busy month for me, I know things don’t always go to plan!!

  17. Hurrah…..seeing next month square challenge has rid me of the blues, as has hearing from you. Now all I have to do is get my blues back. So many musical accompaniments will be found for blue. When I saw your fabulous photo of our Moon I though “A photo of our Moon every day” lol

  20. I’m glad you’re back. It’s sometimes difficult when a “known voice” falls silent. One would like to ask … but unlike in real life it’s difficult to offer help and interest can easily turn into idle curiosity. So for what it worth: I’ve missed you and I’m glad you’re back. I’m going to look at “blue” squares to have something prepared but I know that I will change once other contributions have come in and got me thinking in a different direction.
